The end of the Hinduism posts

Well this is the end of the run for the blog posts on Hinduism. I've sure learned a lot from the research I did for it. The world has changed because of this religion. India's culture has undoubtedly been changed from what it would have been without it. It is a very interesting religion with many fun customs that I didn't get to talk about like the exchanging of garlands, a customary wedding ritual. Her are some of the links I used to find information for this: uri.org/kids/world-religions/hindu-beliefs for some of the information in the second blog post, https://ca.pbslearningmedia.org/collection/hinduism-in-images/ for the pictures in the blog post in the Ramayana and in the other one with Hinduism pictures, and The Ramayana Summary | GradeSaver for the information in that post.

The Ramayana

Hello, it's your host again. Once again I'm going to be discussing Hinduism. I will be discussing the Ramayana, an important piece of literature not just for Hindus but an epic of, well epic proportions. I have not read it but I will be putting what I know in a summary. Rama, the hero of the story and considered an incarnation of Vishnu, one of the Hindu gods, is able to string the bow of Siva allowing him to marry Sita, whose father decided that whoever could string the bow could marry Sita. Now as almost all heroes are, Rama was born in an age in which monsters terrorized the land. In this case, the main one and the one he would known be for defeating was named Ravana, a demon who cannot be killed.

Now after being exiled from his kingdom, Rama was in a forest with Sita and his brother Lakshmana. Ravana kidnaps Sita after hearing of her beauty by having his uncle turn into a beautiful golden stag🦌. Sita, an animal lover, asks Rama to capture the deer and Rama decided to go after the deer. Rama follows the deer for a long way before realizing what it was and shooting it. Ravana's uncle cries out in an imitation of Rama's voice and Lakshmana goes after Rama. Ravana then manages to kidnap Sita. Rama and Lakshmana who then decide to rescue her. They form an alliance with Sugriva, rightful king of the monkeysπŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’, and his adviser Hanuman agree to help them rescue Sita if Rama and Lakshmana helped him regain his throne because his brother Vali usurped it. After a long battle, Rama defeated Ravana and rescued Sita as seen in the picture below.
